Lets talk lack of motivation..
For me, it’s acknowledging and saying hello to my Undefined Will / Heart Centre. It’s knowing that I’m built to have a burst mode (turbo mode, whatever you want to call it). I know there will be times when I have that burst of energy / motivation / willpower combination - and when it reaches that sweet spot… look out. That’s my time to shine, to do the things, to look out for my future self… and prepare for when the motivation inevitably wanes. It’s about honouring that inner rhythm and timing. Allowing yourself the space and grace to rest.
If you also have an Undefined Will / Heart Centre.. like me, you might resonate with the following:
- lack of consistent motivation or willpower.
- feeling motivation when you’re around others, but then when you get into your own clear energy.. not feeling quite as motivated.
- feeling like ‘if I do this’ then it’ll prove that I’m worthy or strive for over achievement to prove yourself.
- feeling like you have to be in control.
- you might over commit yourself, and go into a cycle of guilt or shame for not being able to follow through ‘like others can’ or feeling a sense of failure for not being able to follow through.
And, if the majority of these resonated with you; Fret not .. there are ways to work with this type of ‘inconsistent’ energy.
When I’m finding myself struggling to find the motivation or will power to do something, I try to lean into these adaptations and/or curiosities to dig deeper:
- Allow myself to rest until I feel my burst
- Think about what kind of consistency is important or makes the most sense for this scenario.
- What’s my ultimate goal?
- Would my future self do a little happy dance and inwardly be like ‘fuck yes, I don’t have to deal with this now’ because it’s already been done… probably a good idea to just take the time and do it now.
- Remember, you are not here to prove anything to anyone.
- A reminder that you do not have to commit to things. If you’re feeling unsure or it’s a ‘maybe’ - communicate that, or simply that you can’t commit. You’re also allowed to take time to decide whether it feels right to commit, if that’s what feels best to you. (Lean into your Authority here for decision making)
And don’t forget to lean into burst mode when it unexpectedly arrives again!
